Detailed Job Profile
Company: Worldlink Communications Limited
Location: Lalitpur, Nepal
Reports to: Chairman & Board of Directors
1. Company Overview
Worldlink Communications is Nepal's leading internet service provider, with a significant network infrastructure and a large, established customer base across the country. As a dominant force in the nation's technology and telecommunications sector, we are at a pivotal stage of our growth. While we have achieved significant scale, we are now focused on optimizing our operations for enhanced profitability and sustainable long-term value, with the strategic goal of a successful Initial Public Offering (IPO) within the next three years.
2. The Opportunity
This is a unique leadership opportunity for a transformative and results-driven executive to steer Worldlink through its next critical phase. We are seeking a seasoned servant leader to initially join as Chief Operating Officer (COO) for a structured six-month transition period, working alongside the outgoing CEO and the Board. In this role, you will gain deep familiarity with our operations, teams, and challenges.
Upon successful completion of the transition, you will be elevated to the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO). As CEO, you will be fully empowered to drive operational efficiency, reignite profitable growth, and champion the strategic and cultural transformation necessary to prepare Worldlink for its public market debut. This role is ideal for a leader who excels at execution, financial management, and value creation through service.
3. Key Responsibilities
As COO (First 6 Months):
● Conduct a comprehensive review of all business operations to identify opportunities for efficiency gains, cost optimization, and process improvements.
● Partner with the current CEO to understand the existing strategic plan, competitive landscape, and organizational structure.
● Build relationships with the executive leadership team and key stakeholders across the organization.
● Develop a detailed 18-month operational and financial roadmap focused on achieving profitability targets.
As CEO (Post-Transition):
● Strategic & Financial Leadership: Assume full P&L responsibility, with a primary mandate to significantly improve bottom-line profitability and shareholder value. Develop and execute a corporate strategy that balances sustainable growth with rigorous financial discipline. Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and capital allocation to ensure alignment with strategic priorities.
● Operational Excellence & Efficiency: Champion the implementation of robust, scalable systems, and processes (SOPs) across all departments to drive efficiency and reduce operational friction. Leverage data analytics to monitor performance, identify trends, and make informed decisions.
● IPO Preparedness & Corporate Governance: Spearhead all activities required to prepare the company for a successful IPO within a 3-year timeframe. Establish and maintain a strong corporate governance framework, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. Serve as the primary liaison with investment bankers, legal counsel, auditors, and other external advisors related to the IPO process.
● Team & Organizational Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing executive team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement rooted in servant leadership. Communicate a clear and inspiring vision to all employees, aligning the organization around key objectives.
4. Candidate Profile: The Servant Leader for Worldlink's Next Chapter
While the strategic goals of profitability and a successful IPO are paramount, the method by which they are achieved is equally important. We are seeking a servant leader who embodies Worldlink’s values and can demonstrate that exceptional financial outcomes and a people-first culture are not mutually exclusive, but are, in fact, mutually reinforcing.
a. Core Values (The Guiding Principles)
The CEO Designate must lead by example, embedding these values into the company's DNA. These principles merge Worldlink's stated values with the tenets of servant leadership.
● Customer Focus & Service: Aligning with Worldlink's value to "go out of our way and walk that extra mile to wow our customers," the leader's mission is to "Enrich the lives of our customers through world-class service."
● Trust, Respect & Empowerment: Fostering "a healthy work environment based on mutual trust and respect" by empowering teams with the autonomy, resources, and mentorship needed to excel.
● Honesty & Stewardship: Being "honest and transparent in our dealings" while acting as a steward of the company's resources for the greater good of the institution and its community.
● Innovation through Humility: Seeking "new and innovative approaches... even at the risk of failure" by fostering a culture of psychological safety where the leader listens more than they speak.
● Efficiency & Frugality for the Greater Good: Being "frugal... and seek[ing] value in our spending" as a form of responsible management to ensure the company's long-term health and ability to serve.
● Community Building & National Pride: Recognizing the company's role in "building a stronger, more connected nation" by building community both inside and outside the organization.
b. Essential Qualities (The Servant Leader's Traits)
● Primarily a Listener: Seeks to understand and clarify the will of the group before directing.
● Empathetic & Healing: Possesses a genuine interest in the well-being and growth of the team.
● Persuasive, Not Coercive: Relies on influence and consensus-building rather than positional authority.
● Profound Self-Awareness: Approaches leadership with humility and is open to feedback and growth.
● A Developer of People: Measures success by the growth of their team as much as by the company's bottom line.
c. Key Competencies (The Demonstrable Skills)
● Expert-Level Financial Acumen: Mastery over P&L, financial planning, and capital allocation to drive profitability.
● Operational Excellence & Process Engineering: A systems thinker adept at designing and implementing SOPs that create efficiency and scale.
● Data-Driven Strategic Planning: The ability to anchor decisions in hard data and analysis to justify strategy and measure ROI.
● High-Impact Stakeholder Management: A sophisticated communicator capable of building trust and alignment with the Board, employees, regulators, and the investment community.
d. Essential Experience
● A minimum of 15 years of progressive senior leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a C-suite role (CEO, COO, or General Manager) with full P&L responsibility.
● Deep industry knowledge: Proven track record of success within the telecommunications, internet service provider (ISP), or a related technology/service sector.
● Operational Turnaround/Optimization: Demonstrable experience in improving operational efficiency, optimizing cost structures, and significantly enhancing profitability in a scaled organization.
● Capital Markets/IPO Experience: Direct, hands-on experience leading or playing a senior role in a company that has successfully gone through an IPO or a significant fundraising/M&A event.
● Proven ability to build and lead high-performing teams in a dynamic, competitive market.
