Role Overview
We are seeking a visionary Vice President of Engineering to lead our global engineering organization with an AI-first mindset, shaping the next generation of intelligent healthcare solutions. You will drive technical strategy, foster a culture of innovation and operational excellence, and embed AI deeply into both our development processes and customer-facing products.
This leader will work closely with the Chief Strategy Officer (responsible for the "What and Why") and the Chief Product Officer (responsible for the "How and When") to develop disruptive, market-leading solutions, leveraging union trusts as innovation incubators to co-create and pilot transformative capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute an AI-first engineering strategy aligned with Viveka Health’s mission and long-term growth objectives.
- Establish and enforce consistent engineering operating standards and documented processes across all teams, including mobile and platform-specific practices.
- Maintain full transparency into engineering utilization, productivity, and workload balance across teams, proactively addressing training needs, staffing adjustments, and performance gaps.
- Coordinate closely with shared-support teams (Infrastructure, DevOps, Security) to eliminate bottlenecks and ensure smooth, unblocked delivery.
- Lead the execution and oversight of department-wide training programs, tracking completion, collecting feedback, and measuring impact.
- Oversee centralized evaluation processes and performance improvement plans (PIPs), ensuring accountability and professional growth.
- Drive execution of executive-level initiatives, establish measurement frameworks, and provide transparent progress updates to the CTO and CEO.
- Champion an ongoing OKR cadence, ensuring goals are clearly communicated, tracked, and met across all engineering functions.
- Cultivate a strong, positive engineering culture focused on employee engagement, retention, and continuous development.
- Ensure compliance with local laws and HR regulations (particularly in Nepal and other regional offices), and actively participate in mediation and disciplinary processes as needed.
- Oversee vendor relationships and office expenses, ensuring alignment with budgetary controls and strategic priorities.
- Regularly update and communicate clear job descriptions, roles, and responsibilities across the engineering organization to strengthen alignment and accountability.

- Harmonized and enforced engineering processes and operating systems across all teams.
- High productivity and utilization rates across engineering teams.
- Proactive identification and resolution of cross-team and shared-support dependencies.
- Successful execution and evidence of training initiatives and development programs.
- Timely and effective performance evaluations and PIPs, with measurable outcomes.
- Continuous progress and reporting on company-wide and departmental OKRs.
- Strong engineering culture, achieving quarterly retention and satisfaction targets.
- Compliance with legal and HR standards, including disciplinary event participation and mediation.
- Effective oversight and approval of vendor expenses and non-routine purchases.
- Clear, updated organizational role definitions and communication of responsibilities.
Qualifications
- 12+ years of progressive engineering leadership experience, including leading large, distributed software teams (preferably across Southeast Asia).
- 5+ years of experience working within the U.S. healthcare system, with a deep understanding of payer, provider, or health benefits administration workflows and regulatory requirements.
- Deep technical expertise in building and scaling cloud-based healthcare products (payer, provider, or digital health platforms strongly preferred).
- Proven track record of embedding AI/ML in both product development and operational engineering practices.
- Strong understanding of AI governance, model lifecycle management, and responsible AI practices in regulated environments .
- Expertise in modern development frameworks, microservices architectures, and scalable SaaS delivery.
- Passion for building elegant, user-centric solutions that improve clinical and administrative outcomes.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to engage effectively with executives, partners, and cross-functional teams.
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, AI/ML, or a related technical field preferred.
