Position: Chief Audit Officer

Location: Shanker Group Office, Kathmandu, Nepal

About the Role:

Shanker Group is seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Audit Officer (CAO) to lead and strengthen the Group’s internal audit function. The CAO will be responsible for overseeing the internal control environment, managing enterprise risk, ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, and providing strategic insights to the senior leadership for continuous improvement in operational efficiency and governance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and oversee the annual audit plan covering operational, financial, and compliance audits across all business units.
  • Lead and mentor the internal audit team to ensure professional growth and delivery of high-quality audit outcomes.
  • Assess and improve the effectiveness of internal control systems, risk management frameworks, and governance processes.
  • Provide independent, objective assurance and advisory services to the Board and Audit Committee.
  • Identify and evaluate emerging risks and recommend actionable strategies for mitigation.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Collaborate with management to promote a culture of ethical conduct and transparency.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Professional certifications such as CA, CPA, ACCA, CIA or equivalent are highly preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in auditing, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of internal auditing standards, risk management, and corporate governance.
  • Proven leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
