Job Description
We are seeking a Credit Analyst to join our mortgage brokerage team. In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating the creditworthiness of clients, analyzing financial data, and providing recommendations for loan approvals. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of financial statements and loan documentation, along with the ability to assess risk and ensure compliance with lending standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Credit Evaluation: Review and assess client financial documents, including credit reports, income statements, and other relevant data to determine creditworthiness.
- Loan Approval Recommendations: Provide clear and well-supported recommendations regarding loan approvals, rejections, or adjustments.
- Collaboration with Team Members: Work closely with loan officers and other team members to ensure accurate and timely loan processing.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all credit assessments adhere to industry regulations and responsible lending practices.
- Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and suggest mitigation strategies when necessary to ensure sound lending decisions.
- Client Interaction: Communicate with clients to gather additional information, clarify discrepancies, and provide updates on the loan process.
- Documentation Management: Maintain detailed and accurate records of all credit evaluations and decisions in compliance with company procedures.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify and propose improvements to the credit analysis process and lending policies.
Qualifications & Skills:
- 1-3 years of experience in a Credit Analyst or Mortgage Analyst role.
- Strong knowledge of financial statements, credit reports, and loan documentation.
- Familiarity with responsible lending practices and industry regulations.
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and mortgage software systems.
