Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Database Administrator (DBA) with over 3 years of experience to join our dynamic IT team. The DBA will be responsible for the performance, integrity, security, and optimization of databases used in CellPay’s core digital wallet services and internal platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain MySQL, MariaDB, and/or PostgreSQL databases.
- Configure and manage replication, clustering, multi-master setups, and high availability.
- Perform database optimization, tuning, and complex query analysis.
- Conduct data migrations and troubleshoot performance or capacity issues.
- Implement and maintain backup and recovery processes.
- Collaborate with developers on schema design and query tuning.
- Automate tasks using Bash or Shell scripting.
- Monitor and manage DB instances on AWS (EC2, RDS, etc.).
- Apply Linux system administration skills for DB setup and maintenance.
- Work with BI tools for data visualization and reporting needs.
- Use basic scripting in Python or Java for task automation or integration.
- Ensure data security, integrity, and access control.
- Document procedures, configurations, and best practices.
Required Qualifications & Skills
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 1.5/2+ years of relevant DBA experience.
- Strong hands-on with MySQL, MariaDB, and optionally PostgreSQL or Oracle.
- Practical knowledge of Bash/Shell scripting.
- Familiar with AWS services, especially those related to databases.
- Good understanding of Linux commands, installation, and repository management.
- Exposure to BI tools like Metabase, Power BI, or Tableau.
- Working knowledge of basic programming in Python or Java.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues clearly.
- Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach.
Preferred Certifications (Optional)
· Oracle Certified Professional (OCP)
· Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate
· AWS Certified Database – Specialty
