Job Description

We’re looking for a Staff Software Engineer who is both hands-on and strategic—someone who can identify business problems, design scalable solutions, and build them end-to-end. You’ll work across the stack—from backend services to user-facing tools—and across teams, collaborating closely with product, operations, and other engineers. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working autonomously, thrives in ambiguity, and takes pride in delivering clean, thoughtful systems that scale.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with tech, product, and ops to define the right problems to solve and how to solve them.
  • Design and implement backend and frontend systems using modern tools and patterns.
  • Architect cloud-native solutions using AWS (serverless preferred).
  • Support DevOps efforts: CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, observability, and performance.
  • Contribute to system design reviews, RFCs, and long-term architectural decisions.
  • Help improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes across the team.

What We’re Looking For:

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, including significant time building end-to-end systems.
  • Fluency in backend development (Java/Spring, Python, or Go) and modern frontend (React or similar).
  • Strong understanding of AWS and cloud-native design (e.g., Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB).
  • Experience with distributed systems, APIs, data models, and system performance.
  • Excellent technical judgment and the ability to work through ambiguity with minimal direction.
  • Insurance or enterprise SaaS experience is a plus—but not required.

Why Join Us:

  • Be part of a high-growth startup solving real problems in a massive industry.
  • Work with experienced leaders in AI, product, and cloud engineering.
  • Own meaningful projects and contribute to product direction and architecture.
  • Flexible, remote-friendly culture with strong technical peers.
