About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled Database Administrator (DBA) with a strong focus on PostgreSQL to ensure the overall health, performance, and security of our database systems. This role also involves maintaining our Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDWH) and managing data-related tasks across the company. The position is a long-term engagement, supporting our growth and data strategy initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Database Maintenance: Install, configure, update, upgrade, and maintain PostgreSQL databases
- Security and Access Control: Manage permissions, user accounts, roles, and access
- Database Design: Oversee schemas, indexing, normalization, and tuning of queries for optimal performance
- Problem Resolution: Identify and resolve database issues promptly
- Optimization and Monitoring: Continuously monitor and optimize database performance
- Backup and Recovery: Implement and manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies
- EDWH Management: Maintain and manage EDWH, including RedShift and BigQuery
- Data Handling: Handle ad-hoc requests for data modification, extraction, ingestion, and other related tasks
- Innovation and Research: Stay updated with the latest technologies and best practices, with an appetite for learning and innovation
- PostgreSQL: Proven experience in managing PostgreSQL databases
- EDWH Expertise: Proficiency in Amazon RedShift and Google BigQuery
- Database Performance: Strong skills in indexing, query tuning, and optimization
- Backup/Recovery: Experience with backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes
- Security: Expertise in database security, user account management, and access control
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Research and Learning: Willingness to learn new technologies and innovate
- Communication: Excellent communication skills, able to handle requests from various departments
- Must have a full-time Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar
- 3+ years of working experience in the related field
- Experience in a similar role within a medium to large organization
- Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and best practices
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
