Overview

The Business Unit Head plays a critical role in steering a designated business unit towards achieving its operational goals and strategic objectives. This leadership position entails the oversight of numerous functions within the business unit, including finance, marketing, operations, and human resources. The Business Unit Head serves as a pivotal link between executive management and the various teams, facilitating robust communication and alignment on the business strategy. By leveraging their deep understanding of market trends and dynamics, they are responsible for identifying growth opportunities while effectively managing risks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Key Responsibilities:  Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute business strategies to drive growth and profitability in the hire purchase segment.
  • Market Expansion: Identify new market opportunities, customer segments, and product innovations to enhance market presence.
  • P&L Management: Oversee financial performance, budgeting, and cost control to achieve revenue and profit targets.
  • Operational Excellence: Ensure efficient and effective processes for loan disbursement, collections, and risk management.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to all regulatory and legal requirements governing hire purchase operations.
  • Risk Management: Implement strong risk assessment and credit control measures to minimize default rates.
  • Team Leadership: Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
  • Stakeholder Management: Engage with key stakeholders, including financial institutions, regulatory bodies, and industry partners.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field or Chartered Accountant with leadership experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in financial services, preferably in hire purchase, asset financing, or retail lending.
  • Strong knowledge of credit risk assessment, loan structuring, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven experience in P&L management, business development, and team leadership.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
