Role Overview

As the Engineering Manager for QA at Veel, you will lead our end-to-end quality assurance strategy across backend, frontend, mobile, and AI/ML systems. This is a high-impact managerial role focused on building scalable test automation, driving a culture of quality, and ensuring our products meet the highest standards in performance, security, and user experience. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional leaders to align QA efforts with product goals and empower a growing team through mentorship, innovation, and technical excellence. 

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end automation across backend, frontend, mobile, and AI/ML systems
• Implement and optimize test frameworks using Robot Framework
• Drive qualitative testing through visual testing strategies
• Own and enhance data QA, focusing on validations, anomaly detection, and data lineage
• Champion best practices around version control, CI/CD integration, and cloud-first testing approaches
• Ensure scalability, security, and cost-efficiency across testing processes
• Use data-driven analysis to make strategic decisions focused on outcomes, not just outputs

     People & Strategy

• Provide strong technical leadership by setting clear direction, ensuring engineering best practices, and enabling your team to solve complex problems with confidence
• Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization and maintain detailed documentation to ensure alignment, transparency, and knowledge sharing
• Foster a culture of empowerment, ownership, and accountability where engineers feel trusted, motivated, and responsible for delivering high-impact outcomes
• Support and grow your team by actively engaging in mentorship, delivering personalized training, and offering coaching to help each member reach their full potential
• Define, track, and continuously improve QA metrics and dashboards to measure quality, highlight areas of improvement, and drive data-informed decisions
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Backend and Frontend Engineering Managers, Mobile Lead, AI/ML Lead, Design, and GTM teams to align engineering quality with product vision and customer needs
• Stay ahead of the curve by continuously exploring new tools, technologies, and processes and by contributing directly to hands-on research, testing, and coding where needed
• Contribute to cultivate and maintain an A+ product-driven engineering culture at Veel, grounded in innovation, technical excellence, collaboration, and a relentless focus on delivering value to users

Key Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or a related field
• 7+ years of hands-on experience in software engineering, with at least 2 years in a leadership capacity
• Strong foundation in software engineering principles and practices
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills
• Highly motivated, curious, and driven to take ownership and lead initiatives
• Strategic mindset with the ability to make data-driven decisions
• Deep understanding of business objectives, customer needs, and evolving market trends
