Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Coffee Beans (Executive) - Roastery at Himalaya Coffee Company, located in Kathmandu. The Executive will be responsible for overseeing the roasting process of coffee beans, ensuring quality control, managing inventory, and maintaining equipment. The role includes developing and testing new roasting profiles, coordinating with other departments for supply chain management, and participating in cupping sessions to evaluate coffee quality.


Qualifications

  • Operate and monitor coffee roasting machines
  • Develop and execute roast profiles for various blends and single-origin beans.
  • Conduct regular cuppings to ensure flavor and quality consistency.
  • Maintain detailed roasting logs and inventory records.
  • Work closely with procurement for green bean sourcing and stock control.
  • Manage and maintain roasting equipment and troubleshoot issues as needed.
  • Collaborate with quality control, baristas, and marketing to align roast profiles with customer preferences.
  • Monitor production schedules to meet order deadlines and volume targets.
  • Ensure hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety standards in the roastery.
  • Train and supervise junior roasting or production staff (if applicable).


Qualifications

  • Certification in coffee roasting (e.g., SCA Roasting Foundation/Intermediate).
  • Experience with specialty coffee and small-batch roasting.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and practices (HACCP/GMP etc).


Experience & Other skills

  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in coffee roasting
  • Strong understanding of coffee bean origins, roast levels, and flavor profiles.
  • Familiarity with roasting software and profiling systems (e.g., Cropster, Artisan).
  • Knowledge of green beans and different roasting processes.
  • Attention to detail, sensory analysis skills, and a passion for coffee.
  • Knowledge of Speciality and commercial coffee.
  • Basic mechanical skills for equipment maintenance.
  • Good organizational and inventory management skills.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
