Lab Technician (4345 days left)

The Lab Technician for Asphalt Road Surface Construction is responsible for performing various laboratory tests to ensure the quality and compliance of asphalt mixtures used in road construction projects. This role involves sampling, testing, and analysing construction materials, maintaining laboratory equipment, and documenting test results.

Key Responsibilities:

Sample Collection and Preparation:

•    Collect and prepare samples of asphalt, aggregate, and other construction materials from job sites.
•    Ensure proper handling, labeling, and storage of samples according to established protocols.

Laboratory Testing:

•    Perform routine and specialized tests on asphalt mixtures, including but not limited to, Marshall Stability, flow tests, density, moisture content, and gradation analysis.
•    Conduct bitumen content tests using solvent extraction and ignition methods.
•    Carry out performance tests such as fatigue, rutting, and stripping resistance tests.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

•    Record and analyze test results, comparing them with project specifications and standards.
•    Prepare detailed test reports and documentation for review by the Quality Control Manager.
•    Identify and report any deviations from quality standards and recommend corrective actions.

Equipment Maintenance:

•    Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results.
•    Troubleshoot and repair minor equipment issues, and coordinate with service providers for major repairs.

Compliance and Safety:

•    Adhere to all safety regulations and laboratory procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
•    Ensure all testing is conducted in compliance with relevant industry standards and project specifications (e.g. ASTM, AASHTO).

Collaboration:

•    Work closely with project engineers, site supervisors, and other team members to ensure quality control throughout the construction process.
•    Participate in project meetings and provide technical support as needed.
